Job Description for Veterinary Assistant / Technician

We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Assistant / Technician to join our team at Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital.

Responsibilities

• Take patient histories and provide initial client education
• Assist with surgical procedures and patient monitoring
• Care for hospitalized patients
• Make daily callbacks to clients
• Restraining patients
• Assist in taking radiographs
• Administer IV & IM injections
• Dispense controlled drugs
• Place IV catheters and maintain feeding tubes and urinary catheters
• Perform cytology
• Monitor surgical procedures
• Conduct lab diagnostics
• Follow opening/closing procedures for the hospital
• Perform routine cleaning

Requirements and Qualifications

• At least 1 year of related experience
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills
• Positive attitude
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a team environment
• Cornerstone experience a plus
