Position Overview:
The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant (RTA) plays a crucial role in supporting the physical therapist in the formulation and execution of rehabilitation strategies, procedures, and associated tasks aimed at direct patient care.
Job Details
- Employment Type: Part-time; Non-Exempt
- Eligible for Benefits: Yes
- Weekly Hours: 30 hrs/week
Responsibilities
Assists in the daily operational tasks and protocols of Rehabilitation services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. If involved in aquatic therapy, certification in Life Guarding is required within 45 days of hire or transfer into that role.
Key Duties
- Delivers competent and appropriate care to patients according to established standards of practice, physician directives, and the physical therapist's guidance in the ongoing patient care plan; communicates patient evaluations, progress, and concerns with the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Completes all necessary documentation for each patient in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to all established policies and procedures consistent with facility standards.
- Effectively engages with patients and their families regarding treatment plans, objectives, safety protocols, and any additional educational needs.
- Performs other delegated tasks from the Physical Therapist that are suitable for the position and licensure, which may include tracking and monitoring departmental statistics and productivity logs.
- Oversees all departmental equipment and supplies, recommending any deficiencies to the Physical Therapist.
- May assist with various daily operational responsibilities within the department, such as orientation, training, supporting students, patient billing, scheduling, and answering inquiries.
- Actively participates in quality assurance initiatives as directed.
Qualifications
- Current State Physical Therapist Assistant License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
- Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to build a positive rapport with patients and team members.
Preferred Experience
- One year of experience as a physical therapy assistant with relevant skills and experience in the target population for this role.
Physical Demands:
Includes carrying, hearing, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, sitting, and walking.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
