Overview:
The Registered Nurse Behavioral Health Specialist is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care of patients in a behavioral health setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process.
- Utilize technology, therapeutic interventions, and evidence-based practices to provide high-quality care.
- Coordinate care with other health team members to ensure seamless delivery of services.
- Recognize and address both psychological and physical needs of patients.
- Develop and manage individualized treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
- Oversee care delivered by licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and/or certified nursing assistants (CNAs), ensuring compliance with evaluation, treatment, and documentation guidelines.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval.
- At least one year of nursing experience in a comparable setting is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
