Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain continuous cookers
  • Troubleshoot and repair defective machinery
  • Repair equipment as needed
  • Operate machinery and tools in a safe manner
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and meter readings
  • Design, fabricate, weld, and install equipment as required
  • Oversee equipment operation and order supplies for the department
  • Responsible for general housekeeping of assigned work
  • Assist in training junior mechanics

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of hand and power tools, including welders and torch cutters
  • Mechanical repair and equipment maintenance knowledge
  • Attention to detail when working with diagrams, prints, and manuals
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management and fellow employees
  • Ability to effectively understand proper documentation and handling of paperwork involved with departmental operations
  • Ability to bend, lift, carry, push, and pull varying weights up to 50 pounds, sometimes in awkward positions
  • Job requires extensive walking, climbing, and some crawling
  • Ability to work scheduled hours as necessary
