Job Role Overview

The Radiologic Technologist Specialist I in Interventional Radiology is responsible for conducting specialized diagnostic imaging procedures as directed by physician orders. This position emphasizes patient safety and care during interventional examinations.

Full Time Monday-Friday (8AM-4:30PM, plus call)

Key Responsibilities

Contributes to the mission of the Health & Hospital Corporation with a focus on serving the community. Responsibilities include:
  • Executing specialized diagnostic imaging procedures as per physician directives.
  • Choosing appropriate exposure settings for imaging equipment for each examination.
  • Identifying suitable equipment for use, including injectors and imaging systems.
  • Utilizing protective measures and support devices as necessary.
  • Ensuring patient safety and care during interventional procedures.
  • Assisting physicians during specialized procedures and catheterizations.
  • Providing emotional support and information to patients about their procedures.
  • Instructing students rotating through the department.
  • Preparing digital images for external providers while adhering to privacy regulations.
  • Maintaining necessary supplies for imaging rooms.
  • Ensuring cleanliness and proper stocking of rooms and equipment.
  • Preparing equipment for sterilization processes.
  • Assembling procedure trays for interventionists prior to examinations.
Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program is required;
  • ARRT registration with compliance to continuing education requirements.
  • State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • ACLS certification within six months of hire.
  • Preferred ARRT certification in Interventional Radiology.
Skills and Competencies
  • Effective communication skills appropriate for diverse patient populations.
  • Strong knowledge of radiologic anatomy and imaging physics.
  • Ability to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Familiarity with radiologic equipment and procedures.
  • Understanding of hospital protocols and safety procedures.
  • Ability to follow instructions and manage patient interactions with professionalism.
  • Proficient in computer applications relevant to the role.
  • Capacity to adapt to changing work demands and priorities.
