Overview


As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for interpreting architectural plans to develop roof and floor truss placement layouts that align with the established design standards of 85 Lumber. Your role will involve utilizing engineering software to ensure that all designs are precise, optimized, and compliant with current policies and procedures. You will also specify all necessary hardware, maintain an up-to-date Job Tracking Sheet, and communicate with customers through approval letters as outlined in the Associate Handbook. Additionally, you will provide support to sales and customers as needed, maintain an organized workspace, and participate in meetings and committees as directed by your supervisors.


Responsibilities

• Interpret architectural plans to create engineered wood placement layouts

• Analyze and understand blueprints

• Ensure that designs are accurate, optimized, and meet industry standards

• Request sealed engineering drawings and/or repair details and follow up to ensure completion when necessary

• Generate engineered wood placement layouts for final construction

• Provide accurate pricing for estimating purposes

• Offer job-site support in collaboration with the sales department when requested

• Assist in the training of new team members as required

Qualifications

• General knowledge of the construction industry

• Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural and structural blueprints

• Ability to calculate tributary loads, concentrated loads, and load transfer throughout a structure

• Competent in operating a computer and design software such as 20/20

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong mathematical skills, including proficiency in architectural units, fractions, geometry, and basic trigonometry
