Pipefitter/Welder/Exchanger Mechanic

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking an experienced Pipefitter/Welder/Exchanger Mechanic to join our team at our Martinez Renewable Fuels Facility in Martinez, California.

• Assemble and disassemble flanges, blind and de-blind equipment, demo and install piping, pull and replace valves, clean and repair heater burners, pull and clean filters/screens, torque and tension joints, make-up and fabricate tubing and threaded piping, and perform hydrostatic testing.
• Ensure equipment is safely prepared for maintenance and all documents are in order prior to starting work.
• Perform work in a safe and environmentally compliant manner, adhering to site Health and Safety processes and Environmental regulations.
• Work per applicable technical standards and specifications (Marathon, Industry, or Manufacturer).
• Read and understand schematics and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Field-measure and draw isometric sketches for piping layout and fabrication.
• Operate various types of mobile equipment, including forklifts, fixed cab cranes, and aerial lifts.
• Work as a team and collaborate to accomplish work efficiently and to high quality standards.
• Communicate effectively and report on work being performed.
• Train on Exchanger craft, including knowledge of exchanger types, exchanger-specific tooling and procedures, and rigging and pulling exchanger bundles.
• Train on Welding craft, including knowledge of filler metals and electrodes, welding preparation, types of welding, and NDE testing methods.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a recognized Pipefitter or Boilermaker apprenticeship program or two years of verifiable journeyman level pipefitter/boilermaker work experience.
• Knowledgeable on the use of tools/equipment of the trade and general rigging methods.
• Ability to wear appropriate PPE in the facility and physically perform all tasks in the field.
• Legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to support irregular or extended work hours and call-out situations when needed.

• Work experience in a refining, petrochemical, or other related industry.
• Heat exchanger knowledge/experience.
• Welding knowledge/experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and SAP.
• Direct experience with Pipefitter/Boilmaker role.
