Position Overview
As a Financial Counselor, you will play a crucial role in assisting patients with their billing inquiries in a supportive and professional environment. Your efforts will directly contribute to enhancing the patient experience by providing timely and accurate assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with patients face-to-face to address billing inquiries and provide clear information regarding their accounts.
- Review patient bills comprehensively, ensuring accuracy and clarity in all transactions.
- Collect outstanding balances and discuss payment options with patients, ensuring they understand their financial responsibilities.
- Facilitate the authorization process for medical services and provide estimates for upcoming procedures.
- Educate patients on available financial assistance programs and the implications of their choices.
Qualifications
Education:
- Required: High School diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree
Experience:
- Required: Minimum of 1 year in customer service, healthcare, or office settings
- Preferred: Experience in healthcare billing or collections.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations and make independent decisions.
Physical Demands
This role may require occasional lifting of light objects and involves sitting for extended periods. While there is minimal exposure to hazardous materials, the incumbent may encounter patients with communicable diseases.
