Administrative Support Specialist Job

**Position Summary**
Columbia-Greene Community College seeks a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to fill the position of Human Resources Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Human Resource Office, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations and effective implementation of HR initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, administer, and communicate HR policies, procedures, and directives to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Stay up-to-date with current trends in HR, new and innovative human resource programs, and services within higher education, and employment law updates.
- Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of finance and human resource files and records.
- Manage recruitment and selection processes, including posting jobs externally, communicating with applicants, and supporting search committees.
- Design and implement onboarding and orientation processes for new hires, ensuring a seamless transition into the organization.
- Collaborate with benefits broker to onboard employees (and retirees) into benefit programs, including dissemination of information, enrollment, education, and wellness.
- Work closely with the Payroll Officer to reconcile employment data, ensure accurate leave accruals, and meet regulatory requirements.
- Review and reconcile monthly insurance invoices, ensuring accuracy in the employee benefit portal.
- Prepare annual requisitions for monthly insurances and departmental invoices.
- Assist in maintaining employee performance plans and tracking employee development.
- Develop and maintain the training compliance platform, assigning relevant content as needed.
- Contribute to the development of job descriptions, collaborating with department directors and union representatives.
- Participate in college committees, including IDEA, Professional Development, and Health Matters.
- Streamline internal processes to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support the Administration Office with annual audits and assist in planning retirement seminars.
- Provide backup support for payroll processing and retirement reporting.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field with at least three years of experience in HR. HR Certification a plus.
- Strong understanding of HR practices, employment law, and regulations, including civil service law in a unionized environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems, tech-savvy with other HR software, MS Office Suite, and/or related software.
