Job Summary

We are seeking a Part-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Waseca Public Schools District 829. The successful candidate will provide direct professional nursing services to students, including first aid, illness, and emergency care, as well as medication administration and other related duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct professional nursing services to students, including first aid, illness, and emergency care
  • Administer medications and perform other related duties as needed
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with state mandates
  • Delegate tasks to health paraprofessionals as needed and provide supervision
  • Enhance the educational process by modifying or removing health-related barriers to learning and promoting student wellness
  • Follow state and county guidelines for reporting contagious conditions and informing families and staff
Requirements
  • Valid license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse issued by the Minnesota Department of Nursing
  • First aid and CPR certification
  • Competent in oral suctioning and gastrostomy tube care
  • Ability to ride on transportation to and from school with students (if required)
  • Valid Minnesota driver's license
  • Good oral, written, and computer communications skills
  • Strong interest in working with children
  • Ability to accept and follow directions provided by a licensed school nurse or Director of Special Education
Working Conditions

The LPN will work in a school setting, providing nursing services to students. The position requires the ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The LPN may be required to lift or carry up to 100 pounds.
