Job Title: Medical Assistant - Urology Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team at Michigan Institute of Urology. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our urology team.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing and managing the daily patient workflow for the urology Nurse Practitioner. This includes reviewing patient charts, rooming patients, collecting vital signs, documenting medical information, and assisting with procedures such as cystoscopies and biopsies.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and co-workers
  • Manage daily workflow for urology Nurse Practitioner, including reviewing patient charts and preparing for appointments
  • Ask preliminary exam questions and document patient information accurately
  • Obtain and document patient vital signs and summary of patient visits
  • Assist providers with in-office procedures, including cystoscopies and biopsies
  • Timely and accurate completion of lab requests for specimens
  • Obtain prior authorizations for patient medications in a timely manner
  • Prep charts for upcoming patient visits and assist in proper cleaning of instruments and equipment
  • Annual review and training of OSHA, Waste Management, and Procedure guidelines
  • Assist fellow staff members and substitute when needed
  • Perform telephone triage, assessment, screening, and patient education when needed
Requirements:
  • High School graduate or GED; Medical Assistant certificate preferred
  • 1 year of medical assistant office experience demonstrating competency, or 2 years of experience as an LPN
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism
  • Knowledge of EMR documentation and charting
