As a Surgical Services Technician, you will play a vital role in patient care by assisting in the setup and management of surgical instruments and equipment during procedures. Your contributions will be essential in ensuring a smooth and efficient operating room environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Proficiency in maintaining and updating necessary computer skills for the role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE:
  • At least one year of experience as an Operating Room scrub technician.


CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are representative of the work performed by individuals in this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive list:
  • Assist with routine and specialized nursing tasks as directed by a registered nurse.
  • Prepare and organize the Operating Room with necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies.
  • Arrange surgical instruments and equipment in a specified order for efficient access.
  • Support patient care needs in accordance with the age-specific requirements of patients.
  • Manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ensure proper preparation of instruments for transport to Central Sterile after procedures.
  • Adhere to departmental protocols for cleaning and disinfecting equipment and furniture.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the unit and restock supplies as needed.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to the Department Director or designee.
  • Verify the accuracy of surgical counts for sponges, needles, and instruments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands of this position include:
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Characteristics of the work environment include:
  • Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, latex, medications, sharps, and radiation.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Independent thought and problem-solving abilities are necessary.
  • Ability to apply reasoning and problem-solving principles to address practical challenges.
