Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist - Elementary School

The Speech Language Pathologist - Elementary School is a critical role in the Wichita Public Schools district, responsible for providing essential services to identified speech-language impaired students. This position requires a strong understanding of speech-language pathology principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide speech-language therapy services to students in elementary school settings.
  • Consult with teachers and staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with speech-language impairments.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as occupational therapists and psychologists, to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of student progress and services provided.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology.
Requirements:
  • Masters degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field.
  • License in Speech-Language Pathology through the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
Work Environment:

The Speech Language Pathologist - Elementary School will work in a standard office and school building environment, with occasional travel between schools and central offices. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and maintain confidentiality in all interactions.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to convey complex information.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to effectively use Microsoft Word and Outlook.
