Position: K12 Special Needs Educator

Compensation: Up to $60 per hour

Qualifications:

  • Must possess or be eligible for a valid Delaware teaching license and hold certification as a School Teacher in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1521.
AND
  • Demonstrated experience working with students receiving special education services.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including exerting between 20-50 lbs. of force and assisting students with mobility and transitions.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Deliver instruction in reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science to students utilizing approved curriculum and appropriate learning activities in both self-contained and inclusive classroom settings.
  • Collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and related service staff to provide comprehensive special education services.
  • Establish and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the resources provided by the district.
  • Encourage students to uphold and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs of the students.
  • Strive to implement the district's educational philosophy and instructional goals through teaching practices.
  • Take necessary precautions to safeguard students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Regularly evaluate student progress.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as mandated by law, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Assist in enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside of instructional hours when required or requested.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with students and their parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  • Foster cooperative relationships with others.
  • Engage in professional development activities.
