Position Overview:

The Dialysis Hospital Services Nurse (Acute RN) is responsible for delivering specialized dialysis and renal nursing care, and, if required by contract, plasmapheresis treatments within our acute hemodialysis unit. The Acute RN collaborates closely with hospital and outpatient care teams to ensure that patients receive the safest care with optimal outcomes.

Work Schedule: Full-time, consisting of four 10-hour shifts beginning at 6:30 AM. This role includes on-call responsibilities and travel between various locations.

Compensation: Hourly pay ranges from $33 to $43, based on nursing and dialysis experience.

Key Responsibilities:

What You Can Expect:

  • Prepare and oversee equipment utilized for intermittent or continuous dialysis and water treatment in the acute care environment, including conducting quality control checks
  • Perform and document assessments before, during, and after dialysis treatments
  • Initiate, monitor, and conclude dialysis procedures according to established protocols
  • Administer medications as prescribed and document in accordance with hospital policies
  • Provide blood and blood product administration following hospital guidelines
  • Accurately receive, transcribe, and implement written and verbal orders from physicians
  • Access and interpret lab reports, relaying necessary information to nephrologists
  • Educate patients and their families about renal care and document appropriately
  • Act as the primary dialysis contact for nephrologists and hospital staff, serving as a liaison to outpatient dialysis centers
  • Adhere to DCI and hospital policies, including the proper completion of occurrence reports as needed
  • Perform additional tasks as required
