Key Responsibilities of the Certified Nursing Aide:
The primary role of the Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) is to deliver both physical and emotional support to residents, ensuring their dignity, autonomy, and individuality are upheld. The CNA will report directly to the shift supervisor and the Wellness Director.
Core Duties Include:
- Delivering essential care and services to assigned residents while assisting fellow wellness team members as necessary.
- Collaborating effectively with colleagues and other staff members.
- Assisting residents with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, toileting, eating, and mobility.
- Maintaining a professional demeanor in all interactions with residents and their families.
- Reporting any suspected instances of abuse to licensed personnel immediately.
- Utilizing safe transfer techniques to assist residents with mobility needs.
- Managing residents' laundry as required.
- Adhering to established safety and infection control protocols.
- Documenting services provided on company forms accurately.
- Operating necessary medical equipment and communication devices.
- Facilitating resident transportation and escorting as needed.
- Assisting residents with personal correspondence and communication when requested.
- Observing and reporting changes in residents' health and emotional status to the appropriate supervisory staff.
- Conducting regular room checks and rounds.
- Monitoring for safety hazards within the environment.
- Responding to emergencies promptly and reporting them to the supervisor.
- Employing tactful communication techniques in sensitive situations.
- Following up on reported concerns and issues with the relevant parties.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participating in resident-centered activities and programs.
- Providing care for sensory enhancement devices.
- Performing light housekeeping tasks as needed.
- Acting as a representative for the organization to visitors and guests.
- Assisting with dining-related tasks, including escorting residents and serving meals.
- Demonstrating respect for the heritage and wisdom of residents.
- Collaborating with other departments to ensure comprehensive care.
- Engaging in projects or committees as assigned.
- Attending staff meetings and mandatory training sessions.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Must maintain certification as a Certified Nurse Aide.
- Successful completion of the company’s skills competency checklist.
- Good physical health and free from communicable diseases; ability to lift, bend, and push necessary equipment.
- Capability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Completion of drug screening and background checks as required.
- Previous experience in Assisted Living is preferred.
