About the Job: The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy patient care environment by ensuring assigned areas are kept in a clean, safe, sanitary, and orderly manner. This includes advising supervisors on environmental services equipment needs and repairs, as well as ensuring infectious waste disposal contractors perform as scheduled.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform specific cleaning and custodial tasks to maintain the general upkeep, sanitation, and cleanliness of the facility.
  • Clean facility rooms, baths, laboratories, offices, and halls, utilizing buffers, scrubbers, sweepers, and carpet cleaning equipment as necessary.
  • Wash bed frames, brush mattresses, and remake beds after discharge of patients when applicable.
  • Keep utility and storage rooms in neat and orderly conditions.
  • Operate commercial washers and dryers, laundering soiled linens as directed.
  • Attend to infection control standards, transport soiled linen to storage area, and distribute laundered articles and items.
  • Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors with careful attention to slip/fall risks during and after cleaning floors.
  • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, dusting furniture and equipment.
  • Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Empty wastebaskets, transport trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Disinfect rooms, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and supplies using appropriate processes and germicides for cleaning equipment.
  • Conduct daily checks of cleaning carts and linen supply closets to determine inventory of supplies.
  • Clean and store all equipment and supplies properly after each shift.
  • Practice standard/universal precautions and environmental safety guidelines, including instructions upon MSDS for materials encountered during task completion.
  • Prepare rooms for meetings and arrange decorations and furniture for facility functions.

Requirements: A high school graduate or equivalent is preferred, along with previous experience in housekeeping in a commercial, clinical, or healthcare environment.

Compensation and Benefits: Summit BHC offers a comprehensive benefit plan and a competitive salary of $38,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
