Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly organized and dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, high energy, and an outstanding personality, with a strong dedication to patient satisfaction.
The Ophthalmic Technician will be responsible for conducting tests to measure intraocular pressure, measuring visual acuity, taking patient medical histories, administering topical ophthalmic medications, and conducting visual field tests. They will also operate, clean, and maintain ophthalmic/surgical instruments, equipment, and facilities.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment, and have a strong understanding of their impact on company outcomes and results.
Responsibilities- Conduct tests to measure intraocular pressure
- Measure visual acuity
- Take patient medical histories
- Administer topical ophthalmic medications
- Conduct visual field tests
- Operate, clean, and maintain ophthalmic/surgical instruments, equipment, and facilities
- Take measurements of the eye
- Measure lens power
- Assist physicians in performing surgical procedures
- Conduct ocular motility tests
- Communicate telephonically with patients regarding scheduling or to inquire about post-operative status or recovery
- Assist with Laser Vision Coordinator overflow
- Execute core processes
- Front desk administrative duties
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred
- At least one year of experience as an ophthalmic, optometric, or medical technician preferred
- Fluency in the English language
- Excellent oral and written comprehension and expression
- Ability to use mathematical methods or formulas for related medical and scientific measurements and calculations
- Ability to collect data and establish facts
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
- Ability to use logic
- Ability to identify information by categorizing and recognizing differences or similarities
