Advanced Emergency Medicine Professional

Bassett Healthcare Network, a forward-thinking healthcare organization in central New York and a major teaching affiliate of Columbia University, is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join its team. The Bassett Healthcare Network has six state-of-the-art Emergency Departments and two Convenient Care locations.
Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in three distinct employment tracks:
- Combination of Emergency Department and Convenient Care: Primary responsibilities will include providing high-quality care at four emergency departments and two urgent/convenient care clinics. Employment will be regional, allowing for shifts to be scheduled in locations that are close together with the ability to work at all sites.
- Convenient Care Only: The candidate will evaluate and treat a wide range of non-emergent medical conditions, perform minor procedures (including suturing, splinting, incision and drainage), and interpret ancillary tests (labs, urinalysis, x-ray, EKG). Care will be provided promptly but thoroughly. Practitioners must be able to treat urgent conditions while knowing how to recognize emergencies to refer to a higher level of care. Prior experience in Emergency Department settings is preferred.
- Independent Practice: Advanced Practice Clinicians who work independently at a Critical Access Hospital ED will assess patients, provide quality care, and make appropriate dispositions. This includes stabilizing patients with any necessary lifesaving procedures, including endotracheal intubation, central line or IO placement, surgical cricothyrotomy, chest tube placement, emergent childbirth/delivery, or medical workups (with laboratory testing and result interpretation) and radiology interpretations. The APC must also be comfortable transferring patients to appropriate facilities, discharging them home, or admitting them to the critical access hospital. A post-graduate fellowship in emergency medicine or prior experience working independently in the emergency department setting is required.
- A competitive salary range of $120,000 - $132,150 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
