Custodian Position at Yorktown Naval Weapons Station

VersAbility Resources is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Custodian at Yorktown Naval Weapons Station. This role involves maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of various facilities, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for employees and visitors.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming floors, carpets, and furniture.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms and replenish supplies as needed.
  • Empty trash receptacles and sort recycling materials appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored.
  • Perform minor preventative maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs, fixing leaky faucets, and repairing broken fixtures.
  • Follow established procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage or injuries.
  • Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor promptly.
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down equipment and furniture for meetings, events, or other functions as required.
  • Notify management of any safety hazards, security incidents, or any other emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and policies.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Proven experience as a custodian, janitor, or similar role is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to pass a military background screen to obtain base access required.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to providing high-quality service.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Transportation to access base.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
