POSITION:
Student Support Specialist
Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate and identify the needs of students, collecting necessary data to create and execute Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Deliver educational instruction to individuals with developmental challenges.
  • Facilitate learning in designated curriculum areas as per established guidelines.
  • Design and implement effective behavioral intervention strategies.
  • Create and execute daily lesson plans tailored to each student's Individualized Education Plans and aligned with the Ohio Extended Standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
(including but not limited to the following):

  • Possess the required certification/license as mandated by the Ohio Department of Education; Intervention Specialist certification is preferred, especially in moderate to intensive areas.
  • Maintain current certifications in CPR and First Aid.
  • Clearances from the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and abuser registry.
  • Additional training as required by Ohio DODD or local board policies.

COMPENSATION:
As per negotiated agreement

WORK HOURS:
35 hours per week,
(Typically 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday during the academic year)

This role involves engagement with children and young adults with developmental disabilities.


In addition to the qualifications listed above, the following factors will be considered when evaluating candidates for this position: diverse work experience, relevant training and education, and the ability to effectively work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
