Job Summary:

The Veterinary Assistant plays a vital role in providing high-quality medical support and nursing care to companion animal patients. This role requires a strong working knowledge of veterinary procedures and pharmacology, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery
  • Perform in-hospital lab testing and prepare specimens for outside labs
  • Provide nursing care for in-hospital patients, including administering medications and treatments
  • Conduct pre-admission exams and discharge hospitalized patients
  • Assist with client education and communication
  • Participate in a positive manner in all group sizes and support team members by assisting other areas
Requirements:
  • Experience equivalent to job duties and responsibilities
  • Excellent veterinary nursing and technical skills
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong ability to multi-task, delegate, and oversee daily workflow
