The Community Living Center (CLC) operates as a VA Nursing Home, delivering vital nursing care and medical support to Veterans. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations to assess decision-making capabilities and provide care recommendations.
  • Offer individual and group therapy, addressing the psychological and emotional needs of residents.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement tailored care plans for residents experiencing cognitive challenges.
  • Educate and support staff and family members on effective communication techniques and coping strategies.
  • Participate in rounds, case discussions, and care planning meetings to ensure integrated care delivery.
  • Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing residents' overall well-being.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current psychologist license in any U.S. State or Territory.
  • Experience working with older adults, particularly those with cognitive impairments, is preferred.
  • Strong assessment and diagnostic abilities, capable of evaluating decision-making capacity and offering appropriate recommendations.
  • Skilled in individual and group counseling methodologies, emphasizing evidence-based practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proficient in collaborating with diverse teams and support staff.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in geropsychology and long-term care.
