Job Title: RN Apheresis Specialist

About the Role:

The RN Apheresis Specialist will be responsible for performing all adult and pediatric procedures in a safe and competent manner. This includes plasma exchange, red blood cell exchange, cellular depletions, stem cell/mononuclear cell collections, therapeutic phlebotomies, and extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) treatments.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform all procedures and services provided by the department, following all Fairview and department policies.
  • Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate nursing care for all assigned populations.
  • Develop and individualize nursing plans of care by collaborating with patients, families, or healthcare teams.
  • Provide care according to the plan, and in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, and nursing practice guidelines.
  • Communicate with physicians regarding status changes or unusual lab values on patients or donors.
  • Operate apheresis and collection equipment according to standard operating procedures.
  • Evaluate care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a program in nursing who meets qualifications for registered nurse licensure in Minnesota.
  • Current MN RN license or current permit to practice professional nursing in MN.
  • Preferred qualifications include BSN, 1-3 years of nursing experience in Apheresis, Dialysis, or ICU, and excellent communication, independent judgment, and critical thinking skills.
