Position Overview

West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech) is currently seeking applications for Campus Service Workers. This role involves various support functions aimed at preserving the aesthetic quality of institutional buildings and the surrounding grounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow established procedures and safety protocols.
  • Utilize discretion to interpret guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order within all buildings, addressing floors, carpets, furniture, walls, restrooms, kitchens, and more.
  • Ensure the exterior of buildings is well-kept, including tasks such as leaf and debris removal, gutter cleaning, snow and ice management, salt spreading, and graffiti removal.
  • Operate various cleaning machinery, including scrubbers and burnishers, as well as hand and power tools.
  • Accurately mix and dilute cleaning solutions, ensuring proper usage.
  • Assist in relocating furniture and equipment, employing handtrucks and dollies as necessary.
  • Support the setup and breakdown of equipment for events.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties such as waste collection, supply replenishment, and responding to requests.
  • Stay updated on safety regulations and participate in training sessions.
  • Drive company vehicles as required.

Work Schedule: Evening shifts from 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM, Monday through Friday.

Compensation: Competitive wages are offered, taking into account relevant experience and education. Full-time employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, including 12 paid holidays and generous paid time off.

Please note that this is a pool requisition, and applications will be considered for all current openings in this role.

Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0-6 months of relevant work experience.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties required, including prolonged standing, walking, bending, and lifting items weighing 50 to 75 pounds.
  • Capability to handle tasks involving exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals, as well as varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
Requirements
  • Valid US driver's license.

Physical Demands:

  • Working at heights using ladders.
  • Handling hazardous materials.
  • Climbing stairs and performing physical tasks.
  • Lifting and moving heavy objects.
  • Working in various weather conditions.
