Department Overview


Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is a prestigious health and research institution committed to outstanding patient care, education, research, and community service.

The Casey Eye Institute, within the Department of Ophthalmology at OHSU, is in search of a full-time Comprehensive Ophthalmologist for its clinic.

The selected individual will be part of a well-established university-affiliated practice, engaging in clinical duties, research initiatives, and educational responsibilities, along with an academic appointment.

This role involves collaboration with a team of optometrists and ophthalmologists, providing specialized services across various domains. The ideal candidate should possess board certification or be board eligible and must hold medical licenses in the relevant states.

Function/Duties of Position


Under the guidance of the Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology, the primary responsibilities of this position will align with supporting OHSU's missions and objectives.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Educating medical students and staff
  • Delivering high-quality clinical care
  • Participating in community service initiatives
The main focus will be on providing comprehensive ophthalmology services at the designated clinic.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Current MD license and completion of an accredited residency program in ophthalmology
  • Board certified or eligible by the American Board of Ophthalmology

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong clinical and patient assessment skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication abilities
  • Interpersonal skills, innovation, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and adept at multitasking
  • Ability to enhance clinic performance
