Job Summary:
As a Pharmacy Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to perform general clerical and technical duties. Your responsibilities will include maintaining pharmacy services in accordance with departmental policies and standards, as well as state regulations. You will work closely with center administration to ensure the effective delivery of pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform general clerical duties, including cash register operation, cash handling, member eligibility verification, bookkeeping, filing, and general supply maintenance.
• Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, perform technical duties, such as entering prescription and allergy data into the computer, retrieving medication from shelves, counting and packaging medication, labeling medication, and retrieving refill request information from phone and automated systems.
• Assist with inventory control, purchasing, pharmaceutical returns, return-to-stock, shelf cleanliness, product rotation, and maintenance.
• Serve members in a friendly, courteous, and expedient manner, promoting member satisfaction and retention.
• Work in conjunction with medical records and nursing staff to collect and disseminate prescription-related information.
• Participate in patient education programs as appropriate.
• May have specific clinical pharmacy service responsibilities, such as patient enrollment in the service, telecommunication to patients and practitioners, written patient communication, laboratory data retrieval, processing reports, collecting data for quality improvement projects, maintaining a filing system, and handling administrative office activities.
• Attend pharmacy education or training programs as appropriate.

Requirements:
• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
• Pharmacy Technician License (Georgia) required.
• Ability to deal pleasantly and effectively with medical staff and patients.
• Knowledge of basic cash register operations and cash control systems.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret written prescriptions.
• Ability to work in a repetitive environment.
• Complete a job-specific assessment.

Preferred Qualifications:
• One (1) year of experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or retail setting or one (1) year of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a Kaiser Permanente Pharmacy preferred.
