Data Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst to join our team at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. As a Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in assisting Observatory users with data reduction and imaging, assessing the quality of pipeline data products, and providing informative summaries and scripts.

• Assist Observatory users with data reduction and imaging
• Assess the quality of pipeline data products for users, for Science Ready Data Products (SRDP) deliverables, and for VLA Sky Survey (VLASS)
• Provide informative summaries and scripts
• Assist Observatory users in preparing observations and scheduling blocks
• Respond to, refer, and follow up on queries submitted through the Helpdesk
• Assist visiting scientists in data reduction, data analysis, and archive access
• Data reduction and analysis related to Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) monitoring data taken with the VLA
• Participate in scientific testing of software and procedures for user support and/or telescope operations

• Bachelor's Degree in Astronomy, Physics, or related field
• Experience working with radio astronomical data products and/or operating radio telescopes (not required)
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to remain calm while supporting demanding clients
• Analytical thinker
• Ability to learn new systems quickly
