We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst to join our team at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. As a Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in assisting Observatory users with data reduction and imaging, assessing the quality of pipeline data products, and providing informative summaries and scripts.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist Observatory users with data reduction and imaging
- Assess the quality of pipeline data products for users, for Science Ready Data Products (SRDP) deliverables, and for VLA Sky Survey (VLASS)
- Provide informative summaries and scripts
- Assist Observatory users in preparing observations and scheduling blocks
- Respond to, refer, and follow up on queries submitted through the Helpdesk
- Assist visiting scientists in data reduction, data analysis, and archive access
- Data reduction and analysis related to Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) monitoring data taken with the VLA
- Participate in scientific testing of software and procedures for user support and/or telescope operations
- Bachelor's Degree in Astronomy, Physics, or related field
- Experience working with radio astronomical data products and/or operating radio telescopes (not required)
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to remain calm while supporting demanding clients
- Analytical thinker
- Ability to learn new systems quickly
