Nursing Department Supervisor Job Summary

Integritus Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Department Supervisor to join our team at Fairview Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during your tour of duty.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in directing day-to-day nursing activities in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating policies and procedures that govern nursing department functions.
  • Ensure that all nursing service personnel comply with established procedures and maintain current reference materials.
  • Make written and oral reports to the Director as necessary, concerning the operation of the nursing department.
  • Assist in coordinating nursing with other resident services to ensure continuity of care.
  • Ensure that all nursing service personnel are in compliance with their job descriptions.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of quality assurance programs for the nursing department.
  • Participate in facility surveys made by government agencies as requested by the Administrator or Director of Nursing.
  • Review and update resident discharge plans as necessary.
  • Assist in planning the nursing services portion of the resident's discharge plan.
  • Meet with nursing staff and support personnel to plan department services, programs, and activities.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
  • Complete accident and incident reports as necessary.
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, and charting.
Requirements:
  • Must possess a minimum of a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved LPN/RN program.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related healthcare facility.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN or LPN in this state.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
