We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Sevita. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing on-site and alternative educational services to adolescent program participants in a cognitive retraining and educational setting.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate Carry-Over Strategies: Work closely with the cognitive or trans-disciplinary team to develop and implement carry-over strategies for program participants.
- Attend Clinical Team Meetings: Participate in weekly clinical team meetings with the communication/cognition team to discuss participant progress and develop strategies for improvement.
- Documentation and Reporting: Complete all necessary documentation, including service summaries, reports, and billing slips, in a thorough and timely manner.
- Curriculum Development: Supervise and assist in the development and implementation of the curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of program participants.
- Evaluation and Progress Monitoring: Develop methods for evaluating student progress and meet with parents and students to provide guidance and support.
- Classroom Environment: Implement the policy and procedure of the classroom environment, ensuring a safe and supportive learning space.
- Training and Professional Development: Attend all mandatory program/company training and establish and maintain a supportive working relationship within the agency, school, and broader community service network.
- Bachelor's Degree in Special Education: A degree in Special Education is required for this role.
- Experience in Classroom or Tutorial Settings: One year of experience in classroom or tutorial settings, with experience in special education preferred.
- Sound Judgment and Discretion: Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in all aspects of the role.

- Exceptional Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to establish trust and rapport quickly, are required.
