Summary:

The Food and Nutrition Cook is responsible for preparing appetizing, nutritious, and well-balanced meals tailored to meet the daily dietary and special nutritional needs of residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the handling, storage, and disposal of raw and prepared food items in compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
  2. Adhere to production schedules and standardized recipes aligned with menu cycles established by Registered Dietitians.
  3. Prepare alternative food options to accommodate resident preferences.
  4. Ensure that food service equipment and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition, following facility policies and applicable regulations.
  5. Oversee the opening and/or closing procedures of the kitchen.
  6. Perform additional tasks as assigned, ensuring all duties are completed efficiently.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. A minimum of one year of experience as a cook in an institutional food service environment is also preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position may involve leading Food and Nutrition Aides in the absence of the Manager.

Physical Demands and Environment:

Work occurs in an institutional kitchen setting, where the employee may need to sit, bend, stoop, see, talk, and hear. Occasionally, the employee may lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Exposure to blood, body fluids, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals may occur. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
