Job Summary

The YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fitness Instructor to lead our Group Exercise program. As a Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for creating a fun and engaging fitness environment that promotes total fitness development and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver high-energy group exercise classes that cater to diverse fitness levels and interests.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to members, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
  • Promote other YMCA programs and services to members, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of wellness concepts, exercise techniques, and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Group Exercise team to plan and implement new programs and events.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
  • Relevant national Group Exercise certification (YMCA, AFAA, ACE, Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Cycle Reebok, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
Working Conditions

The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment is essential.
