Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs. As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing client therapy programs and activities as part of a therapeutic psychiatric or medical treatment program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement therapeutic recreational programs and activities for patients, including outdoor adventure/wilderness programs, physical activity programs, and creative expressive programs.
  • Conduct interviews, tests, and other procedures to evaluate patient needs, attitudes, interests, and abilities.
  • Evaluate patient progress towards established goals and objectives and document response to various treatments and activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams to determine total treatment plans and recommend changes based on individual observations and evaluations.
  • Develop protocols, treatment guidelines, education materials, and specialized programs for patients.
  • Provide community resources on recreational therapy and related healthcare issues.
  • Conduct therapeutic recreation programs for clients' families and groups, including outdoor adventure/wilderness programs, physical activity programs, and creative expressive programs.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a bachelor's degree in recreational therapy, outdoor recreation, physical education, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You will also need to possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license and be willing to perform all job-related travel.
