Job Responsibilities:

The pilot is responsible for ensuring that both the aircraft and weather conditions are suitable for transporting medical personnel and patients to the designated medical facility within the operational area. This role requires adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and the General Operations Manual (GOM), along with a thorough understanding of Air Methods' policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Safely operating Air Methods aircraft in compliance with regulations.
  • Conducting pre-flight inspections to confirm the aircraft's airworthiness, documented in the Daily Flight Log.
  • Maintaining final authority over aircraft operations and the safety of all passengers and cargo.
  • Ensuring familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems, including backup aircraft.
  • Completing all necessary documentation accurately.
  • Conducting detailed flight planning with minimal notice.
  • Participating in company meetings, activities, and community outreach.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

  • Regular attendance is essential for this position.

This role does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Two to five years of relevant experience or training.

Operational and Safety Standards:

  • Weight must not exceed 250 pounds, and candidates must be under 70 years of age.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, and the public.
  • Recent flight experience within the last 24 months is necessary.

Flight Experience Requirements:

  • 2500 total flight hours with a minimum of 2000 hours in category.
  • 1000 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) in category.
  • 500 hours of rotor wing turbine time.
  • 500 hours of cross-country flight time, including 50 hours at night.
  • 100 hours of unaided night flight as PIC.
  • 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument time, with at least 50 hours in flight.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Instrument rating for the category and class of aircraft.
  • Fixed wing multiengine rating for twin-engine aircraft.
  • Commercial single-engine land rating for single-engine aircraft.
  • First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate required.
