Job Description Summary

The Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. This individual provides guidance, leadership, and training to store staff, assuming full responsibility for store operations in the Store Manager's absence. The Assistant Manager is committed to meeting and exceeding sales, service, and operational objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of employees and customers.
  • Create an exceptional customer shopping experience, maintaining and reinforcing current service level standards.
  • Provide service training and leadership to staff members, addressing customer issues promptly and effectively.
  • Manage all POS terminal transactions in accordance with policy and procedure, including sales, discounts, refunds, loyalty, and opening/closing procedures.
  • Oversee inventory control, adhering to policies and procedures regarding shipping and receiving, price management, singles, damaged merchandise, and conducting physical inventory.
  • Ensure sales floor merchandising and visual presentation meet company standards, including merchandise placement, sales floor maintenance, promotional events, and signage.
  • Manage payroll control, adhering to policies and procedures regarding scheduling, payroll budget compliance, time and attendance.
  • Develop and train direct reports, utilizing available training tools and reinforcing operational standards.
  • Contribute to loss prevention efforts, adhering to policies and procedures for protecting and controlling company assets.
Principal Working Relationships

The Assistant Manager will work closely with customers, sales associates, store management, district/regional managers, store operations, and training personnel.

  • Managerial and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for customer and employee interactions.
  • Strong visual merchandising skills.
  • Working knowledge of footwear, accessories, and shoe care.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of corporate and store operations policies and procedures.
  • A complete understanding of store presentation and strong visual merchandising skills.
