As a Breast Imaging Specialist, you will engage in various technical procedures utilizing ionizing radiation to identify potential health issues.

Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Executing a range of technical procedures that involve the application of ionizing radiation for pathology detection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing mammography requests and exam forms to ascertain the required procedures.
  • Accurately positioning patients, determining exposure parameters, and operating mammography equipment to capture high-quality images.
  • Assessing processed images for quality and identifying the need for additional captures.
  • Educating patients about procedures and equipment to ensure their understanding and cooperation.
  • Ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the examination process.
  • Managing the acquisition, archiving, transmission, and printing of images.
  • Reporting any equipment malfunctions promptly to the appropriate support teams.
  • Processing billing through the Radiology Information System.
  • Assisting with compliance to local, state, and federal regulations, as well as credentialing standards.
  • Conducting equipment checks to ensure functionality and notifying engineering of any issues.
  • Maintaining exam rooms with necessary supplies.
  • Providing training and mentorship to new staff and students.
  • Continuously seeking to enhance technical knowledge through ongoing education and professional engagement.
  • Potentially rotating through various diagnostic imaging modalities and locations.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Must hold a Registered Technologist credential from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (R.T.(R) (ARRT)) in good standing.
  • Certification in Mammography (R.T.(R) (M) (ARRT)) is required.
  • Current state licensure is mandatory prior to employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is essential.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist is preferred.
  • Successful completion of 40 hours of mammography training is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weights and to handle equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Adherence to standard precautions using personal protective equipment as necessary.
