Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
As a Materials Engineer, you will:

  • Identify suitable materials for specific applications, ensuring they meet performance criteria and manufacturing readiness.
  • Assess material performance in design-representative environments and propose necessary testing to confirm expected outcomes.
  • Support supplier evaluations and develop comprehensive material specifications.
  • Maintain a robust database of material properties to assist the design team.
  • Collaborate with engineers across various disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Work closely with testing teams to execute material testing campaigns.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Nuclear, Materials, Mechanical, or a related field).
  • Strong expertise in materials science, particularly in the processing, structure, and performance of ceramic materials.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • U.S. citizenship without dual citizenship.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance.

Preferred Skills:
Experience in:

  • Evaluating the performance of ceramics, metals, or composites in high-temperature applications.
  • Assessing material degradation due to corrosive, irradiative, or thermal conditions.

Compensation:
The expected salary range for this position is between $62,000 and $97,000 annually, depending on experience and local market factors. Additional compensation may include performance incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
