Position Summary
This role is responsible for the prompt installation, preventive upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of intricate plant machinery and facilities essential for the smooth operation of all production lines within a manufacturing environment. The individual will receive assignments from a supervisor or manager and is expected to complete most tasks, including complex ones, with minimal oversight. All tasks must adhere to strict safety and sanitation protocols. Quality standards are consistently monitored, requiring equipment fabrication and machine operations to meet specific tolerances and operational specifications to ensure timely delivery of products while minimizing costs and meeting customer specifications. Employee involvement in the execution of enhanced concepts is encouraged throughout all production processes.
Available Work Shifts: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm, or 11:00 pm - 7:00 am
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and execute repairs on malfunctioning equipment to reduce downtime.
- During production line interruptions, carry out corrective and preventive maintenance as per the assigned schedule.
- Construct, manufacture, or assemble components as specified in blueprints, sketches, or schematics of complex systems and circuitry as detailed in work orders.
- Overhaul or modify highly intricate machinery components such as gearboxes and motors.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of parts to ensure timely repairs. Report usage of all parts for restocking purposes.
- Stay updated on the proper use of all repair tools through continuous training.
- May be tasked with specialized functions such as auto/forklift mechanic, construction electrician, instrumentation, refrigeration, machinist, or electronic specialist. While specialized, the individual will also assist in other areas as needed.
- Comprehend safety regulations and procedures for all tasks.
- Uphold the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
- Ensure accurate data management by utilizing our CMMS program to create reliable data, enhancing decision-making confidence.
- Proactively manage safety by adhering to all Federal and State regulations and internal company policies. Regularly conduct behavior-based safety observations and ensure unsafe conditions are rectified promptly.
- All personnel are responsible for adhering to the principles of SQF 2000.
- All personnel must promptly report any food safety, quality, or plant security concerns to management for appropriate action.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required skills include intermediate proficiency in welding, plumbing, electrical repairs, instrumentation, and the fabrication and repair of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Basic hand tools are provided, but candidates are encouraged to have their own tools available.
- This position necessitates advanced skills as an industrial mechanic or electrician, with prior manufacturing maintenance experience required.
- Ability to read and understand simple to complex instructions, correspondence, and memos. Capability to write various documents, including instructions, training outlines, and reports. Ability to effectively present information verbally in both one-on-one and group settings.
- Must creatively apply experience and common sense to diverse situations, processes, and personnel. Ability to make technical decisions and support staff on technical matters. Must manage multiple projects simultaneously, plan work, order parts, and coordinate downtime for work orders. Ability to resolve issues, including conflicts among employees, equipment failures, and variations in operating conditions.
- Must effectively utilize Maintenance Management Software.
- While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally. The employee frequently stands, walks, sits, uses hands to manipulate objects, reaches with hands and arms, climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls, and occasionally tastes or smells. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision.
- While performing job duties, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibrations. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions. The employee may occasionally face risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud.
