Position Summary:

This role involves capturing x-rays of specific areas of the human body for diagnostic purposes and supporting the imaging department. Responsibilities include performing plain films, fluoroscopy, portable exams, and/or bone density assessments.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

Primary Duties:

  • Clearly explains procedures to patients to ensure understanding and provides educational materials as needed.
  • Safely transports patients to and from clinical areas, verifying their identity in accordance with established protocols.
  • Prepares patients for radiology exams by positioning them appropriately for the procedure.
  • Adheres to radiation safety protocols to minimize unnecessary exposure.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and in compliance with regulations.
  • Monitors patients during procedures and reports any abnormal findings, suggesting protocol updates as necessary.
  • Ensures timely submission of high-quality images and documentation to PACS, maintaining accuracy in lead markers and patient data.
  • Regularly checks equipment functionality and reports any issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization in all areas of the department.
  • May perform limited CT procedures in emergencies when a CT Technologist is unavailable.
  • Operates in a state of alertness and safety at all times.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Associate's degree or completion of a radiology certification program is required.

Experience:

  • No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Continuous standing and walking.
  • Frequent visual acuity for near and far distances.
  • Regular use of hearing and speech for effective communication.
  • Frequent lifting and moving of patients and objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting of heavier objects (25-50 lbs).
  • Occasional bending, stooping, and other physical movements.

Required Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • ARRT-R Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or ARRT-BD Bone Density - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
