We are looking for a skilled Fiber Optic Splicing Technician to play a crucial role in our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the termination, splicing, documentation, and testing of fiber optic cables.
- Execute installation, splicing, repair, and testing of fiber cables in diverse environments, including underground, indoor, and aerial settings.
- Prepare and splice various types of both outdoor and indoor fiber optic cables using single or mass splicing techniques.
- Install different enclosures for both Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) applications.
- Set up racks and termination panels.
- Conduct testing using Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs), Power Meters/Light Sources, and Visual Fault Locators (VFLs).
- Document and record all testing results accurately.
- Maintain necessary paperwork, including splice plans, as-built documents, and time sheets.
- Provide 24/7 emergency response as needed.
- Perform daily tasks with a strong emphasis on safety.
- Maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with colleagues and clients.
- Ensure quality workmanship that exceeds industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in reading blueprints and understanding engineering documents.
- Strong attention to detail in setting up splice locations and termination points.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in splicing across all construction phases.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- 5 years of fusion splicing and testing experience is required.
- Capable of reading prints and other engineering documentation.
- Experience with mid-span entries on both ribbon and loose tube cables.
- Excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Mechanically inclined with a keen eye for detail.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License and be able to secure a DOT physical certification.
- Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays.
