The Medical Imaging Specialist is responsible for executing a diverse range of standard and advanced imaging techniques. This role includes providing assistance to fellow imaging professionals as required. The specialist may be assigned to various locations and must possess the capability to address basic maintenance issues, engage in quality assurance activities, and resolve challenges related to image processing and archiving systems. Effective communication and behavior must align with the core values and mission of CHRISTUS Health.
Key Responsibilities:
• Adheres to the established competencies of OneCHRISTUS: Self-Leadership, Leadership of Others, or Leadership of Leaders.
• Conducts a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures, including more complex tasks, while utilizing appropriate techniques and providing clear procedural instructions to patients.
• Assesses patients for clinical contrast history and identifies potential contraindications.
• Follows established protocols, quality assurance guidelines, and regulatory standards.
• Engages effectively with patients and healthcare providers by coordinating and prioritizing imaging procedures to ensure high-quality patient care and continuity.
• Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to rotate among departments and clinics to ensure adequate coverage.
• Assists Radiologists or other medical professionals during invasive and fluoroscopic procedures, utilizing equipment to accurately identify anatomical locations.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, ensuring they are well-stocked prior to procedures and comply with Infection Control standards.
• Accurately codes and enters all charges related to imaging services.
• Adapts patient assessment and care methods to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of each patient.
• Upholds patient confidentiality and refrains from disclosing any confidential information unless necessary for job performance.
• Embodies the core values of CHRISTUS Health in all actions.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Radiology Technology program or an equivalent recognized institution is required.
- 1-3 years of experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
- Current registration with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is mandatory.
- Valid state licensure is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is necessary.
