Job Overview

Position Summary:

This role involves technical and practical responsibilities within the Structures and Grounds Division of the Department of Public Works. The primary focus is on the construction, repair, and upkeep of municipal buildings and various structural facilities, along with other assigned tasks.

Essential Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent technical education with specialized training in building trades.

A minimum of five (5) years of dependable, full-time experience as a carpenter is required, including at least two (2) years at a journeyman level with proficiency in finish carpentry; or a suitable combination of education and experience.

A valid Construction Supervisor's license is mandatory.

A Class D driver's license is also required.

Preferred Skills:

Comprehensive knowledge of various materials, tools, equipment, methods, and techniques utilized in the construction, repair, and maintenance of buildings and structures is essential. Familiarity with local building codes and OSHA regulations is crucial.

Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, drawings, and specifications is necessary. Candidates should also be capable of preparing cost estimates for materials needed for routine repair projects. Supervisory skills to manage one or two employees and instruct them in the safe and efficient use of tools and materials are important.

Demonstrated professional skill in operating and utilizing construction and repair equipment and tools is expected.

Compensation: $2,299.23 bi-weekly plus benefits.
