Job Summary:
The Middlesex Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Regional HSE Manager to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for promoting and enforcing our corporate Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) program, providing safety support to construction operations, and mentoring regional site safety professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comply with, enforce, and actively promote all corporate safety policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to our number one core value – Safety first in all we do.
- Assist the HSE Department in managing the overall corporate safety program by conducting, tracking, and reporting on accident/incident, near miss reports, audits, engagement activities, observations, orientations, trainings, and other related safety activities, as well as recordkeeping of related data.
- Respond to and serve as the regional safety representative for critical activities, crisis events, and OSHA, FRA, & NTSB inspections, and investigations.
- Assist the project in work planning and development of job hazard analysis and safe work practices.
- Perform regular field safety inspections, accident/incident investigations (including root cause analysis), industrial hygiene assessments, and safety audits on active construction sites.
- Prepare daily and weekly reports on all safety activities.
- Conduct safety orientations and training in small and large groups.
- Mentor regional site safety professionals.
- Attend various construction meetings (pre-bid, pre-award, pre-construction, etc.) as necessary.
- Meet regularly with the HSE Operations Director.
- Manage and provide safety coverage as needed across the region in support of operations.
- Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the Company, or as otherwise directed.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in a safety-related field is strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of field safety experience in heavy civil construction, transportation, or a related field.
- 2+ years of rail construction experience or ability to hold rail credentials.
- Knowledge of general construction safety and health regulations, including OSHA.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Safety Management Specialist (SMS), or Certified Health & Safety Technician (CHST) certificate or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Maintenance of Traffic (MOT).
- OSHA Authorized Construction Trainer is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills including Office 365 productivity software.
