As a Clinical Nursing Educator, your primary responsibility will be to cultivate expertise in training, coaching, and mentoring nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care.
Your contributions will include orienting, educating, and developing nursing personnel to guarantee their competence in fulfilling designated responsibilities.
We emphasize the importance of lifelong learning and personal growth, encouraging participation in professional literature, continuing education programs, and committee involvement to enhance knowledge and skills, thereby improving care delivery and influencing nursing practices.
- Collaborate in the design and implementation of educational initiatives aimed at enhancing staff knowledge, skill acquisition, and clinical proficiency, aligned with the strategic objectives of Inova Health System.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to nursing leadership and clinical educators regarding the progress of nurses during their transition to practice, focusing on skill development necessary for proficient clinical performance.
- Oversee the development of nursing staff through educational mentorship and preceptorship in various settings, including classroom environments, simulation labs, and designated nursing units.
- Deliver feedback to all relevant parties concerning the onboarding process, ongoing education, and competency assessment activities for nursing personnel.
- Employ adult learning principles to facilitate the acquisition of new knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities, including time management, clinical decision-making, communication, and teamwork.
- Assess learning needs in accordance with specialty nursing standards, clinical pathways, and nursing strategic initiatives.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive clinical nursing experience in a specialized area, with prior experience as a preceptor.
- Proven experience in teaching, mentoring, and coaching nursing staff, particularly new graduates and novice nurses.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
- Certification in a relevant specialty nursing practice.
- Proficiency in English is required.
- Strong computer skills are essential.
