Job Summary

As a Certified Nursing Assistant at Owensboro Health, you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, working collaboratively with the care team to create a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and orient new patients to the hospital environment, providing directions and instructions as needed.
  • Foster patient engagement by involving patients and their significant others in handoff and care planning.
  • Proactively meet patient needs and ensure a safe environment through intentional rounding and communication.
  • Provide ongoing updates to patients and their families through regular communication and updates on the patient-room care board.
  • Contribute to the assessment of patients by collecting data for review by a nurse and documenting patient progress toward goals.
  • Assist nursing staff in providing personal care according to organizational standards and policies.
  • Report abnormal findings and take appropriate action to ensure patient safety.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • No experience required, but SRNA certification in the state of Kentucky and BLS certification within 90 days of employment are required.
  • Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment are essential for this role.
Work Environment

This role requires the ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.

  • Frequent standing, walking, and lifting of 0-25 pounds.
  • Rarely lifting of 25-75 pounds and carrying of 0-25 pounds.
  • Frequent pushing and pulling of 0-25 pounds.
  • Occasional climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Frequent talking, hearing, and repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Occasional running and repetitive foot and leg movements.
