Position Summary:
The Information Security Specialist plays a crucial role in safeguarding the integrity and confidentiality of our organization's data and that of our clients. This position is responsible for monitoring, managing, and troubleshooting security incidents in real-time, ensuring that our internal environment remains secure against potential threats. The Specialist will provide technical expertise across various domains of network, system, and application security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial assessments of security incidents and network activities.
- Protect information system assets by identifying and resolving potential security vulnerabilities.
- Implement access controls and resource management to secure systems.
- Prepare detailed reports in accordance with established reporting protocols.
- Engage with business leaders to discuss security matters across different departments.
- Communicate investigative results effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Respond to incidents and conduct investigations by analyzing logs from diverse sources.
- Ensure that security technologies utilized by the organization are functioning optimally for clients.
- Familiarize oneself with existing policies and guidelines to prevent unauthorized data access or alterations.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements to enhance current technologies and processes.
- Apply information security principles to specific situations effectively.
- Identify security issues by recognizing anomalies and reporting violations.
- Enhance security measures by evaluating current practices and anticipating future needs.
- Assist with periodic audits to identify security weaknesses and inefficiencies.
- Upgrade systems by implementing and maintaining necessary security controls.
- Keep stakeholders informed by preparing performance updates and communicating system status.
- Maintain quality service by adhering to organizational standards.
- Support incident response and remediation efforts.
- Accurately track time and document work performed.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficient in writing clear, concise, and accurate reports.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of security incident and event monitoring (SIEM) systems.
- Experience with endpoint security solutions.
- Background in incident response and investigative processes.
- Experience conducting vulnerability assessments and relevant incident responses.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Advanced understanding of TCP/IP, networking protocols, and system administration.
- Hands-on experience analyzing extensive logs and network data to support incident investigations.
- Experience with vulnerability scanning tools.
- Proficiency in security solutions such as Anti-Virus, HIPS, and Network Forensics.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one enterprise SIEM platform.
- Experience in developing and deploying security signatures.
- Understanding of mobile technologies and operating systems.
- Experience with Office 365 and Azure security practices.
