Job Overview

Senior Property Underwriter

This role as a Senior Property Underwriter involves overseeing a portfolio of property renewals while also generating new business opportunities.

The primary focus will be on underwriting mono-line property risks, with an emphasis on cross-selling and identifying additional lines of business within the Commercial Insurance sector.

The Senior Property Underwriter is expected to foster book growth, maintain excellent client relationships, and implement effective pricing strategies that are both competitive and profitable. Underwriting responsibilities will include marketing and servicing accounts in accordance with company guidelines.

The individual will be tasked with creating and executing a strategic business plan aimed at expanding the property book through identifying prospects, developing a sales pipeline, producing new business, and managing existing accounts.

This position holds accountability for the financial performance of the property portfolio, ensuring growth for the designated branch, region, and territory.

They will seek out growth opportunities within both new and existing production sources, identify cross-selling prospects, engage in agency planning and goal setting, and conduct regular visits to brokers and clients.


Essential Skills:

. Strong sales and marketing capabilities are crucial.

. Proven success in marketing, managing a producer/book, and developing new business is required.

The candidate must demonstrate effective negotiation skills at all levels with both internal and external stakeholders and cultivate key producer relationships.


. The ideal applicant will have a high level of expertise in the underwriting process, risk assessment, and work collaboratively with an Underwriting Associate.

. Effective desk management is a vital aspect of this position.

. Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills are necessary to interact effectively with customers and colleagues at all levels.

. Knowledge and proficiency in underwriting technical issues, compliance, coverage, products, pricing, and strategies are expected.

. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant business software is required.

. We seek a highly motivated individual who is results-oriented and possesses solid business acumen.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.

A minimum of 2+ years of experience in commercial property underwriting is essential.

The compensation range for this position is between $87,500 and $149,500, with specific offers dependent on the applicant's skills and other relevant factors. This role may also qualify for participation in an annual discretionary incentive program. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, details of which can be found on our careers website.

The disclosed compensation range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic differential for the location where the position is filled.
