Job Summary

The Pan Lab at the Virginia Tech Fralin Biomedical Research Institute is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to join our team. As a Postdoctoral Associate, you will be responsible for conducting experimental studies using a combination of biochemical, genetic, imaging, and behavioral techniques to understand the complex interactions between genes, neural circuits, and behavior in zebrafish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments to investigate the roles of cell adhesion molecules and candidate disease genes in the assembly of neurons into functional neural pathways.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Investigator to write grant proposals and research papers.
  • Participate in laboratory upkeep and animal husbandry, including genotyping, breeding, and maintaining stocks.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in developmental biology, neurobiology, or a related field.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Competency in productivity software and image processing tools.
  • Willingness to work with zebrafish.
  • Strong publication record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Competency in molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, and laser scanning microscopy.
  • Experience with in vivo studies using animal models.
