Job Description

Overview
CentraState Healthcare System is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team. As a member of our Flexible Staffing Unit, you will have the opportunity to gain broad exposure to a variety of patients on our highly specialized units. You will work closely with your staffing coordinator to design a schedule that meets your lifestyle, while providing essential support to our healthcare teams.

Responsibilities
  • Provide considerate and respectful care to patients, ensuring their individual needs are met and their satisfaction is high.
  • Affirm patients' rights to make decisions about their medical care, including the right to discontinue treatment.
  • Successfully complete life-span education as appropriate.
  • Obtain a complete nursing history and baseline assessment, communicating effectively with the healthcare team and documenting results.
  • Document patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, care plan, nursing interventions, and evaluation in the medical record, adhering to hospital and nursing policies.
  • Analyze patient information to determine nursing diagnosis and needs for appropriate care, medical intervention, or services from other clinical professionals.
  • Identify patient problems and formulate nursing diagnoses according to physical, psychological, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs.
  • Consistently involve patients and families in the development of individualized care plans.
  • Administer medication as needed, following hospital policies and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Take immediate action in the event of a medication variance occurrence.
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and emergency situations, taking prompt action.
  • Participate in unit conferences to discuss quality issues and quality improvement strategies.
  • Delegate components of care to non-professional caregivers as appropriate, following up on assignments.
  • Make decisions that demonstrate knowledge of nursing practice, utilizing sound judgment in clinical and patient care management situations.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills in patient care and coordination, ensuring the best patient outcomes.
  • Follow CentraState Pain Assessment policy.
  • Function as a Resource Nurse, making decisions in the absence of the Clinical Leader and/or Nurse Manager.
  • Support cost containment through efficient use of equipment, supplies, and other resources.
  • Recognize adverse reactions to medications and take immediate action.
  • Evaluate patient needs for discharge and access appropriate resources for patients and families.
  • Provide written and verbal education to patients and families.
  • Function as a preceptor/mentor to students and new staff members.
  • Promote teamwork within the unit and between departments.
  • Adhere to hospital policy regarding the insertion, maintenance, and removal of foley catheters.
  • Verbalize and demonstrate proper rationale and techniques surrounding indwelling urinary catheter care, as per policy #4668.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Related experience preferred.
  • RN license/NJ required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • IV certification required.
  • ACLS required.
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification required.
