Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Service Representative to join our Medical Staff Administration team at Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining high levels of skill in proper documentation in electronic medical records, greeting and welcoming patients, and managing all encounters and pertinent consents/forms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Practice the Gold Standard Behaviors, utilizing API and EBT appropriately, and ensuring appointment descriptions are clear and appropriate.
  • Treat people with respect, acknowledge concerns, and work together to remove departmental boundaries.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient, donor, and employee information, and demonstrate high-level customer service.
  • Promote Schedule Access, offer Map applications to patients for financial assistance, and perform reminder calls for the next day patients 24 hours in advance.
  • Provide patients with education and access to portal, utilize EMR to route patient calls, and work collaboratively with peers.
  • Treat patients and community members with courtesy, fairness, and ethics, and behave in a manner that makes you approachable.
  • Participate in quality control/performance improvement activities, observe safety rules/regulations/policies and procedures, and maintain medical records through scanning and HIM.
  • Return calls/messages within one business day, use appropriate hand hygiene, and participate in PCMH/ACO/MU measures.
  • Properly use BHMH property and equipment, point of care collections at time of service, and encounter reconciliation sent to billing daily.
  • Balance cash box at end of day, verify payments, and record on the receipt sheet and forward to billing office.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED)
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking, with potential exposure to abusive and/or aggressive people.
